Plaza Bucks do not roll over from fall to spring. Plaza Bucks may not be redeemed for cash or credit.


9-Month Option (9-MO)
When the rest of University Plaza closes during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break and Spring Break, this option offers residents the opportunity to stay in the building. While the other facilities are closed (Café 900, weight room, etc.), this option is useful to residents who need to remain in the DeKalb area for internships and/or specialized class schedules that do not follow the regular undergraduate NIU calendar. There is an additional $300 fee for the 9-month option.
Quiet Lifestyle Floor
Quiet hours are in effect on quiet lifestyle floors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except Fridays from 4pm until 11pm and Saturdays from noon (12pm) until 11pm, during which time courtesy hours are in effect.
Community Service Floor (CSF)
This floor offers a unique opportunity to get involved in leadership opportunities and service projects at school and in the community. Activities on this floor are designed to enhance the student's educational experience and stimulate peer interaction and support. This floor will be actively involved in the mentoring program, take special field trips and plan service projects together.
Kishwaukee Experience Floor (KEF)
Kishwaukee College students will enjoy the college experience on this floor. Created especially for students attending Kishwaukee Community College, this floor focuses on the activities and the spirit that are part of the community college experience. By having their own floor, Kishwaukee students will find it easier to make friends from their school and become part of their community. School spirit and involvement are encouraged and supported. All incoming Kishwaukee College students who are living at University Plaza for the first time are required to live on this floor. Kishwaukee students who have lived with us previously may choose to live on this floor.
Newman Floor (NF)
The Newman Catholic Student Center’s Student Ministry Team seeks “to participate in the life of the community through worship, evangelization, education, justice and social action.” This floor is a collective effort by University Plaza and the Newman Center to provide an environment for residents who wish to pursue these goals, and who wish to use our combined resources in order to help, and become more involved with, the community. This floor will have the opportunity to further the partnership with the Newman Center by planning and participating in a variety of activities proposed by like-minded individuals. Residency on this floor is nondenominational, and open to students of all faiths and beliefs.

I acknowledge and agree that if I'm applying for Spring 2008, I'm applying for a single semester contract or if I'm applying for Fall 2008/ Spring 2009, I'm applying for a two semester, academic year, contract. I understand that this Application does not guarantee a reservation, and that I will not have a reservation until a fully executed Residence Hall Contract is returned by me to University Plaza, an Illinois Limited Partnership ("Owner"). I acknowledge that the $200.00 application fee is non-refundable. I hereby represent that I have never been convicted of a felony. I hereby authorize Owner to conduct any credit and background checks on me that Owner deems appropriate. I agree to return a Residence Hall Contract signed by me and all Guarantors within 30 days after the date of this Application prior to June 1, 2008. If this application is completed after June 1, 2008, I agree to return a Residence Hall Contract within 10 days after the date of this application. If I fail to do so, the entire $200.00 application fee will be forfeited and retained by Owner and a room will not be guaranteed for me. If Owner approves this application and executes the Residence Hall Contract, $150.00 of the application fee will be held as the Contract Deposit as referenced in Paragraph 1 of the University Plaza Residence Hall Contract.
