|Recommended: YesBest Student Orientated Housing — Moving in was very easy and the inspection was provided by a step by step process. I love all the amenities and can't wait to use them I can't hear my neighbors and the surrounding area in this complex is well kept. 10 10 wouldn't want to live anywhere else while I go to NIU.
|Recommended: YesN A — I would highly recommend. It’s a comfortable and safe environment. Management is nice.
|Recommended: YesVery nice, clean, and welcoming. — It's expensive, but you can see why. The gym is extremely convenient and so are the study rooms. No better place to live on campus. Only issue is getting a parking permit - the lot does not seem to be able to hold all the residents, so you'll have to try to get your permit as soon as possible to have a chance at a parking spot.

|Recommended: YesA great place to live — UP has great facilities, social gatherings, and staff. I've really enjoyed living here, so thank you for making this a lovely place to live. My one concern is the accessibility of UP. According to the Americans With Disabilities Act, buildings must be compliant with certain signage requirements, including correct braille and raised print letters on permanent rooms . I hope to speak with management about how we can address these errors that prevent all residents full and equal access of UP. I would love to help with that process.
|Recommended: YesFunctional living conditions while being comfortable. — Very nice and safe environment to live in, can hear neighbors every now and then and the washing machines were down for a little bit, but overall enjoying living here.
|Recommended: YesGood place for college students to be safe and productive — It's a lively area where you're free to enjoy lots of space and be a member of a unique community.
|Recommended: NoMost modern housing available in Dekalb. The older staff are nice and friendly, however, a slight warning to people who are not white there is a lot of casual racism that happens among the student workers concerning minority groups. A good example of this was the student workers were playing Jackbox games in the main lobby and their idea of funny jokes were derogatory statements about Black people including but not limited to usage of the N-word with the hard R. I don't think they treat any individual non-white person prejudicially however they definitely carry a lot of prejudiced opinions about minority groups that manifest in small ways that lead to people who are not white to generally feel very uncomfortable around them.

|Recommended: YesProperty is clean and well maintained by a very polite and kind staff. — University Plaza is by far one of the best apartments you can live in near the University. It is a short walk to campus, and the complex is well-maintained by a very kind and attentive staff. Because the apartment is rented by a lot of students, it can tend to be quite noisy. However, the facilities and amenities are a great package deal when renting from University Plaza. Parking, while it has been an issue in the past, has improved since the complex has started strictly enforcing parking spaces. While the rent is pricey, wi-fi, cable, and printing are available making the cost worth it. The only two complaints that I have are the noisy neighbors and the fire alarms. Sometimes the complex is quick to address the issue of the noise complaints, other times it is not. As for the fire alarms, they tend to go off randomly and often, whether it is due to residents or a malfunction in the system. This requires us to evacuate the building no matter the time of day. However, I believe the perks of living in University Plaza outweigh the cost and negatives. If you are looking to find an apartment in DeKalb, you will likely not find an apartment as well maintained as University Plaza.
